Brown Jay Notes
When you see a young Brown Jay you will not have to look hard before you see an adult watching over it. Other birds that come to the feeders do give it plenty of space to eat. When the birds scatter it is usually the Brown Jay showing up.
It is a bird that loves just about anything you put out to eat. It eats meat, dead mice or live ones. It eats tortillas, chicken scrach, dog food , but I think its favorite is oranges. They will fly down and take half an orange and fly away with it.
The most juveniles I have seen at one time at our feeders is 4 I don't know if it is all one family or not.I did see 2 adults watching over them. And eating along side of them.
